Anticipation
I read once that a good part of enjoying a holiday is in the anticipation, the thrill of looking forward to and planning the coming event. I think also anticipation is an enjoyable part of watching one's favourite shrub come into bloom. This is Vireya "Arch Angel" This particular plant has five buds. It's been lovely to watch this first bud plump up, then the stages of the truss opening gradually and then finally the beautiful blooms.

Some Vireya blooms
Just a few Vireya blooms from our Nursery display garden. Many of the Hybrids flower in Spring and Autumn. In nature a number of the species grow as epiphytes and have very small and fine root systems and therefore in cultivation require very good drainage. They make excellent container plants enjoying morning sun or bright filtered light. Vireyas do require some protection from frost in Winter and from hot afternoon sun in Summertime.
